Vejoy’s vegetarian food philosophy is deeply rooted in the religious beliefs of it’s founding members and current managing partners, Mr and Mrs Kapoor. As devoted followers of the Hare Krishna movement, they believe that the preparation and eating of food should be based on principles of compassion, non-violence and balanced living.
Staying true to the art of Hare Krishna cooking, Vejoy advocate a lacto-vegetarian diet, strictly avoiding meat, fish and eggs. Vejoy’s recipes are also free of onion and garlic. In fact, the company’s name was borne from the idea that it is a JOY to be VEgetarian!
The recipes that are used to make Vejoy products has a history far beyond the company’s existence. It was originally introduced to the South African market by the company, Yuh-Der Industries CC., which was owned and operated by a Taiwanese Buddhist. It was in this factory where Mr Kapoor made his first acquaintance with the business of making and distributing vegetarian foods.
